Mr. McMahon and Financial Horizons Group president John Hamilton will decide on the fate of the Excel name by early 2013. It lingers on in marketing documents.
Mr. Derome will not be replaced. “Mr. Derome’s former position, that of executive vice president, mergers and acquisitions, would be cut during the integration because these responsibilities will now fall on the section presidents,” Mr. McMahon, told The Insurance and Investment Journal.
Although a position in Kitchener for Mr. Derome had been broached, he and Mr. Hamilton decided instead to end their mutual business relationship amicably, Mr. McMahon confirms.
Mr. Derome’s new job is with the firm Assurances Robillard. His role is to drive business development and boost life and group insurance and investment volume, under the presidency of the firm’s founder Michel Robillard.
