Three top Toronto investment managers will be putting their strategies to work to help Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
Alfred Lam, Senior Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer, CI Multi-Asset Management, a division of CI Investments; Som Seif, President and Chief Executive Officer, Purpose Investments Inc.; and Michael Simpson, Senior Vice-President and Executive Portfolio Manager, Sentry Investments are managing funds for Holland Bloorview's 2018 Investor Challenge which launches this month, announced the hospital Jan. 22.
Starting with $25,000
Each fund manager will start with $25,000 donated by their respective firms. Additional donations (including online donations) of cash or securities can also be made to Holland Bloorview Foundation, and then directed to each manager's Investor Challenge fund at hollandbloorview.ca/InvestorChallenge.
They will manage all investments to their fund on behalf of Holland Bloorview Foundation over the course of the calendar year, with all capital and investment gains going directly to the hospital.
The money raised will be used to develop new technologies that will help kids speak, walk, and play; improve patient care through innovative research; and provide specialized camps and recreation programs.
Throughout 2018, BNN and The Globe and Mail will provide quarterly reports on the progress of each investment manager's respective portfolio. Progress updates will also be posted regularly at hollandbloorviewfoundation.ca.
A world of possibilities
"We're grateful to these managers who are keen to invest in an organization that supports so many amazing kids and families," said Sandra Hawken, President and CEO of Holland Bloorview Foundation. "Through their support and hard work, we can continue to invest in creating a world of possibilities for kids with disabilities."
Now in its fourth year, the Holland Bloorview Investor Challenge has attracted many of Toronto's best investment managers who have raised over $525,000 during the past three years.
